Johnny Depp‘s dental health seems to be a hot topic, as the actor apparently got a new set of pearly whites following online backlash.
Depp, 61, faced criticism last year after photos of him at the Cannes Film Festival surfaced, with fans taking to social media to comment about his “rotting” teeth.
In some images, his teeth appeared flecked with dingy brown spots.
“Johnny Depp’s teeth are literally ROTTING,” one fan wrote alongside photos of the actor,” one person wrote at the time.
Some said they were disgusted.
“Seeing that pic of Johnny Depp’s teeth on my [timeline] just ruined my mood,” another noted.
Now, the actor appears to have gotten a makeover inside his mouth. A video has surfaced of him, revealing what looks like a major dental transformation.
The video, according to PageSix, was posted on Instagram by a bartender and features Depp on a vacation in the Bahamas vacation. The footage shows Depp enjoying himself at a beachside bar.
“Def got his teeth done! Looks so good,” one person wrote.
Citing a 1995interview with Premiere magazine, PageSixsaid Depp once admitted he had poor dental hygiene.
“I’ve got loads of cavities,” he previously told Premiere. “I had a root canal done eight years ago that’s unfinished. It’s like a rotten little stub.”
During recent years, Depp was in the news often — but headlines weren’t just about his teeth.
In 2022, he faced a defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard. He ended up suing Heard for $50 million in connection to allegations she made when she penned a 2018 opinion piece in the Washington Post about being a survivor of domestic abuse.
Heard then filed a countersuit that included a request for $100 million in damages.
But a seven-member jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages. The jury said Depp should be awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
“My life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed,” Depp posted on Instagram just moments after the verdict. “All in the blink of an eye. False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.”
“And six years later, the jury gave me my life back,” he added. “I am truly humbled. My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was only made after considerable thought.
Depp also noted that the goal of the case “was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
Jury members also found in favor of Heard, who said she was defamed by Depp’s lawyer when he called her abuse allegations a hoax. They found she should receive $2 million.
Heard later filed a motion seeking to have a mistrial declared, with her attorneys saying there was an apparent case of mistaken identity with one of the jurors, but a judge rejected all the claims.
Depp rose to fame during the 1980s with roles in 21 Jump Street and Nightmare on Elm Street. He is most known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, as well as Edward Scissorhands.
He also plays guitar in Hollywood Vampires, a rock band he formed in 2012 alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry
