Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton singing together might seem odd since they’re from different music styles. But the most surprising thing is that it works. Stefani recently talked about why she enjoys singing duets with her husband.

In a recent Instagram video, Stefani showed the making of their song “Purple Irises.” She admitted their voices don’t match well, coming from different music worlds.

She got the idea for the song while driving to a recording session. The inspiration struck her, and she felt she had to write it. After writing it, she played the song for Shelton to get his opinion. He liked it, and they decided to sing it together.

Stefani didn’t plan on Shelton joining her, but it felt right. She believes their natural chemistry as a couple makes their duets work.
