On the morning of August 13, Stacey Fazenbaker followed her usual routine: she was supposed to pick up her 10-month-old granddaughter, Scottie, and drop her off at daycare before heading to work.
However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, she drove directly to the parking lot of Owensboro Health Multicare in Madisonville, Kentucky, completely forgetting about the baby in the back seat. Fazenbaker began her shift as a family physician around 8 a.m., while outside temperatures hovered around 95°F. Inside the vehicle, conditions became perilous, reaching a scorching 115°F.
The tragic realization came when Micah, Scottie’s father, went to the daycare to collect his daughter, only to find out she had never been dropped off. He quickly notified his wife, Sydni, who then called her mother in a state of panic. Fazenbaker rushed out of the hospital with her colleagues, but tragically, it was too late to save the infant.
Authorities, including the Madisonville police and Kentucky Child Protective Services, are currently investigating the situation as they await the results of the autopsy. At this point, no charges have been filed against Fazenbaker, but the case has drawn significant attention due to its heartbreaking nature.
