Tom Cruise’s Daughter, Suri, Chooses to Drop Her Father’s Name at High School Graduation Ceremony

Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has decided to abandon her father’s surname at her high school graduation. She was listed as “Suri Noelle,” possibly honoring her mother’s middle name. This decision suggests a potential legal name change and reflects her distant relationship with Tom Cruise, influenced by his dedication to Scientology. This trend of celebrity children distancing themselves from famous parents’ names is also seen with Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.

A Definitive Break? Suri Cruise, 18, made a symbolic decision. As the young girl attended her high school graduation last weekend, she chose to drop the name of the 61-year-old actor from the graduation ceremony brochure, obtained by Page Six.

The daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, who separated in 2012 after eight years together, was listed under the name “Suri Noelle.” This choice could be a reference to her mother, as the middle name of the actress, who rose to fame in “Dawson’s Creek,” is Noelle, according to the British newspaper The Independent.

TOWARD AN OFFICIAL LEGAL ACTION? Tom Cruise, who reportedly no longer has contact with his youngest daughter due to his ties with Scientology, did not attend the ceremony, American media reports.

This estrangement might lead Suri Cruise to take her decision further by seeking legal action to officially drop the surname of the “Mission Impossible” star.

She wouldn’t be the only one to undertake such a procedure. Earlier this month, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, one of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughters, officially requested an American court to drop her father’s name.

Within the Jolie-Pitt clan, two other daughters have also recently chosen not to use the actor’s name in their daily lives. Vivienne was recently credited under the name “Vivienne Jolie” in the context of the musical “The Outsiders,” which she co-produces with her mother. Zahara, on the other hand, was the first to stop using the name “Pitt” at a university event in 2023.
