Princess Kate putting on a brave face during a series of tough public appearances has gone viral on TikTok.
The Princess of Wales’ year has been blighted by ill health, giving her more reason than in most years to make a special effort to summon inner positivity.
A fan on TikTok made a compilation of some past moments when Kate has been in the spotlight in moments of hardship.
The video has been liked more than 25,000 times and viewed over 448,000 times on TikTok so far. It included the message: “These days have really hit like this edit … my little baby” with a broken heart emoji.
The video began with a shot of Kate holding her stomach during a symposium promoting early intervention for children and families at the Royal Society of Medicine on March 21, 2018, while she was pregnant with Prince Louis. She had experienced such severe morning sickness earlier in the pregnancy that she was admitted to the hospital.
The footage cuts to Kate’s monochrome Eliza Doolittle-inspired outfit for Trooping of the Colour in June, her first public appearance of 2024 during her chemotherapy treatment.
The princess announced in March that doctors had discovered “cancer had been present” in her body while she underwent abdominal surgery in January.
Other clips came from Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral in September 2022 and a visit to Southport in Merseyside, northwestern England, in October, her first community engagement since finishing chemotherapy.
There was also a snippet of Kate wearing a purple dress to the Wimbledon tennis championships in London in July when she attended the men’s singles final during her chemotherapy.
Another clip of Kate dressed all in black came as she paid her respects to Queen Elizabeth II, whose body was lying in state at Westminster Hall in London on September 14, 2022, following her death on September 8. At Elizabeth’s funeral, Kate had to process her grief and say goodbye as her every move was beamed around the world to an audience of millions.
And footage of her dressed in a blue-and-white striped sweater came from the March 22 video announcing her cancer.
