Prince William’s Rumored Mistress, Rose Hanbury, Accused of Stealing Kate’s Style

The long-awaited coronation of King Charles III took place on Saturday, and the event was pomp and circumstance on full display. Leading up to the event, people were curious to know the small details: Would Prince Harry sit with Prince William? Would the balcony wave be scaled back and limited to only working royals? What was the drama going to be?

Fashion was another hot topic leading up to the historic event. There was chatter about which designer Kate Middleton would wear, and which elegant tiaras would we see, if any. Now that the first day of the coronation festivities has come and gone, the topic of discussion has shifted.

Rose Hanbury

Now, people are talking about fashion, precisely that of Prince William’s rumored mistress, Rose Hanbury.

For at least six years, rumors have been floating around that Prince William has been having an affair with someone in the couple’s “high-society friend group,” and rumors say that person is Rose.

Rose is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and the wife of David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, and reportedly a former friend of Kate. Rose and her husband reportedly live close to William and Kate’s country home, Anmer Hall. The rumors started when it was reported that Kate and Rose had a falling out.

In April 2019, rumors started to heat up that something was happening between William and Rose.

Comparisons were made between Rose and Camilla, the current queen, who had a long-time affair with now King Charles. At the time of the affair, he was married to Princess Diana.

Although there has never been any confirmation that the rumors about Rose and William are true — and we likely won’t hear the palace speak of it at all — eyes were on the Hanbury family during King Charles’ coronation.

Rose and her husband were invited, with their older son, Lord Oliver, having a role in the ceremony as a page standing next to Prince George; there was some talk about whether there would be any awkward vibes.

When Rose arrived at the coronation ceremony, discussions started happening on social media.

It didn’t take long for people to accuse Rose of trying to look like Kate, and she was accused of stealing Kate’s look at the coronation.

According to the Daily Mail, Rose wore Bow Tie Pump Aquazzura heels to the coronation along with a cream and black dress — the same shoes Kate was seen wearing the day before when she did a walkabout with Prince William.

She, too, paired the shoes with a white and black outfit.

People on social media noticed some similarities in Rose’s outfit to ones Kate has worn.

“And so the era of the new mistress begins,” one person tweeted, along with a photo that points to similarities in fashion between Kate and Rose and Camilla and Diana.

“Meghan was the one who started wearing the brand, and then Kate followed,” the same Twitter user shared. “Now we see Rose has a pair.”

“Let me get this straight, Kate Middleton copied Meghan’s style by wearing her signature Aquazzura heels, and then Rose Hanbury copied Kate the next day?” another person tweeted. “This season of Game of Thrones is getting better and better!”

Kate was accused of stealing a look Rose wore years ago, too.

In the days leading up to the coronation, there was chatter about which tiara Kate would wear. Then when insiders said she would be wearing a floral headpiece, people weren’t sure what to expect. But some royal watchers say they didn’t expect Kate to channel Rose.

“Kate surprised everyone and channelled Rose Hanbury instead,” one person tweeted, along with an image of Rose wearing a similar headpiece from years ago.

Of course, this could be circumstance and coincidence — there are only so many looks appropriate for a coronation. But, weirdly, these rumors have sparked again now that the British tabloids can’t put Kate and Meghan Markle against each other.
