Meghan and Harry’s Daughter is Born, and Her Name is Lilibet Diana

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have announced the birth of their daughter. The couple has named their newborn Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Lilibet is a deeply personal choice, honoring Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Diana is a tribute to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, continuing the couple’s tradition of paying homage to significant family members.

Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. Both mother and child are healthy and settling in at home, according to a statement from the couple.

In a message on their Archewell website, Harry and Meghan expressed their joy: “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.”

Lili joins her older brother, Archie Harrison, who was born in May 2019. The addition of Lilibet to their family marks a significant moment for the Sussexes, as they continue to build their life in the United States following their step back from royal duties in early 2020.

The choice of name has sparked a wide range of reactions, reflecting both the affection for the Queen and the enduring legacy of Princess Diana.
