Kate Middleton’s Friends Plan Wedding in Kenya, Hopes for Her Attendance Post-Recovery

Here’s something to look forward to for the Princess of Wales once she’s on the mend: Two of her longtime friends are gearing up to tie the knot in a place close to her heart.

Joss Craig, 29, whose father, William, oversees the sprawling 55,000-acre Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, is now engaged to Miranda Simpson, the British horse-riding manager at the sanctuary.

Lewa, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kenya, holds a special place in the hearts of the royal couple—it’s where Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton back in 2010.

“Wouldn’t it be lovely if Catherine could attend the wedding?” muses a friend optimistically.

It’s not the first time royal connections have intersected with events at Lewa. When Joss’s cousin, Batian Craig, exchanged vows in 2008, Prince William made sure to be there, despite the wedding clashing with another family celebration.

Kenya holds personal significance for Prince William, who spent part of his gap year there before heading off to university. Rumours have even circulated about a “pretend engagement” ceremony between William and Batian’s sister, Jecca, who was honored at his 21st birthday bash.
