Mark Wahlberg Moved His 4 Kids Away From Hollywood To Give Them a ‘Better Life’

Mark Wahlberg is doing what he feels is best for his family of six. The actor recently shared that he and his wife, Rhea Durham, have moved away from Hollywood with their four children.

Explaining his reasoning, Mark said the decision was due to several factors, including his kids’ happiness.

Mark has moved, and he feels it’s all for the better.

The proud dad called into The Talk last week, where he spoke about the “biggest” challenge he faces as a parent who also works. The show’s host, Sheryl Underwood, asked Mark how he can balance parenting and work.

“That is the biggest challenge,” he admitted.

He said part of the reason he moved away from Hollywood was to find a better balance.

Mark is a dad to four kiddos, Ella, 19; Michael, 16; Brendan, 14; and Grace, 12. And they’re the reason he and wife Rhea decided to move.

“Every free moment that I have, I’m at home,” he explained.

And that’s where he wants to stay, which is why he moved.

“I want to be able to work from home,” Mark shared.

“I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there.”

He also explained that moving out of Hollywood would give his kids more to do.

“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer,” he explained.

“This made a lot more sense for us.”

Fortune reported that Mark’s Beverly Hills mansion went up for sale earlier this year. It also reports that he’s bought not one home in Las Vegas but two multimillion-dollar properties.

But just because Mark and his family moved, that doesn’t mean his career is on hold.

Mark shared with the talk show that even though he’s not living in California anymore, he will not fade away.

He explained that he hopes to “build a state-of-the-art studio” in his new state, Nevada, and to “make this Hollywood 2.0.”

“We came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids,” he admitted.

“There’s lot of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future.”

Hopefully he and his family are able to find everything they’re missing now that they’re in a new home!
