Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has initiated legal action to remove her father’s last name, following the lead of three of her siblings. This decision intensifies speculation about the family’s strained relationship with Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s youngest daughter is officially requesting to eliminate his last name from her identity. She now joins a number of siblings who are distancing themselves from their father legally.

At 18 years old, Vivienne has filed a petition to drop ‘Pitt’ from her legal name, becoming the fourth of the couple’s six children to seek this change.

Court documents reveal that she filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

The petition states the reason for the request is simply ‘personal,’ and a court hearing is scheduled for November 2. This filing confirms what many had suspected: Vivienne has been distancing herself from her father’s name.

Interestingly, she was credited as ‘Vivienne Jolie’ in the Playbill for the 2024 Broadway musical ‘The Outsiders,’ which she helped produce with her mother. Vivienne, born in July 2008 alongside her twin brother Knox, is the youngest of the Jolie-Pitt children.

She is not alone in this decision. Her older sister Zahara, 21, and brother Maddox, 24, are also pursuing similar name changes, looking to become Zahara Marley Jolie and Maddox Chivan Jolie.

Their sister Shiloh, 19, has already completed the process, officially dropping ‘Pitt’ from her name in August 2024. Zahara’s court hearing is set for September 28, while Maddox’s is scheduled for September 14.

This trend has caught the attention of those close to Pitt. A source familiar with him expressed sadness over the situation, stating, ‘It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.’

Another insider offered a critique, describing the situation as ‘complete and total parental alienation’ that is ‘awful, deliberate and unnecessary,’ only serving the interests of one parent.

However, those close to Jolie view things differently. Following Vivienne’s petition, a source defended the actress, suggesting that if people knew the full story, they would have more compassion for the kids.

The source argued that the children’s silence about the situation reflects their decency, adding, ‘Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal.’

That leaves two siblings who have not made similar moves: Knox, 18, and Pax. Neither has indicated any intention to drop the Pitt surname publicly or legally. In fact, Pax seems to maintain connections with his father’s family.

Recently, reports emerged that Pax still keeps in touch with that side of the family.

A source mentioned, ‘Pax still has a relationship with his dad’s side of the family and continues to spend time with them,’ noting he recently dined with them to celebrate his cousin Sydney’s engagement.

This gathering reportedly included Brad’s sister, Julie Pitt Neal, his niece, Reagan Pitt, and other close relatives. Sydney had announced her engagement in March on Instagram with the caption, ‘I said yes (duh).’

Nevertheless, despite maintaining ties with that branch of the family, Pax’s relationship with his father appears to be quite distant. A second source noted that he ‘doesn’t have much of a relationship with Brad.’
